About

WHAT'S THE POINT OF CINEMA? has a simple and achievable aim: To spread, discuss, and show cinema. We believe that cinema is an art form that should be freely and fairly discussed, something that has become even easier since the increase of digital cameras and the internet. Never has it been easier to see, and discuss cinema from anywhere. We hope this can become one of many platforms where cinema can fully excel in a modern environment.

Mission Statement: Help cultivate an online film community, where audiences and directors can share and view work from home, for free.  All money from the site is directly invested back into the site, through maintenance, or freelance writing.

Submitting films: Any kind of film, no matter genre, budget, language is excluded from submission. Films are purely chosen on the fitting within the programming culture, and a rejected film is not necessarily a reflection upon its quality. Feedback will always be given on any submission.

£10 Fee Short Submission (Under 30mins)
£15 Fee Microfeature Submission (31-70mins)
£20 Fee Feature Submission (71mins +)
Everything is watched fully and considered. All languages/countries considered, although is requested if not English, subtitles are provided.

Writing: We are not a film reviewing website, but rather a place that aims to promote under-exposed cinema, and provoke discussion. Writers will have the opportunity to be paid for their writing, however pay will be minimal and based purely on the income of the site itself. We feel that any writing deserves to be paid if its high enough standard to be posted on the site. If your piece is chosen to be used on the site, fees will happily be negotiated on a case-by-case basis, dependent on factors such as length of piece.
